Project Background
Role: Graphic Designer, Photographer, Copy Writer
A fashion lookbook produced and designed from scratch for a made-up fashion brand called “Pearl Drops”. It was designed for young and middle-aged women and their significant others who buy gifts for them. An 8-page fashion booklet was made to sell items in a single collection, in this case for pearl and gold jewelry under a beach theme.
As a fictional brand, the logo, collection, and product theme were created as well. The graphical layout; photographed items and models; and the editorial copy were done by a single person.
This is a conceptual project not affiliated with any brand. A single printed lookbook was produced for testing purposes.
Solution & Concept
The products being sold were chosen first and organized around pearl jewelry. Items were all sourced with this in mind. Research was then done to create a story for the products and fictional company that helped conceptualize the brand and collection. A focus on history, education, and care of the products was chosen.
After this was decided, the theme of the collection was chosen to be “Beachcomber” to celebrate company milestones and call back to the brand story on an anniversary. Additional items were found to support this final theme and photographed in-studio both off and on-model, and with product photography.
Finally, the design was chosen to appeal to both casual wearers of pearl jewelry and more formal uses for women. Wood, seashells, shiny stones, gold, pearls, and white were complimented with pinks and dark purples.
